Archant moves to grow regional mobile advertising market

LONDON - Local publisher Archant has launched mobile sites for three of its titles, including the Norwich Evening News, in a move it hopes will help to create a market for regional mobile advertising.

Along with Norwich Evening News, the other sites to get the mobile treatment are the Ilford Recorder and The Pink 'Un, a fanzine for Norwich City FC. The sites went live in November, with sponsorship from Suffolk brewer Adnams across the whole of The Pink 'Un site.

YOC has created the sites, which make the titles' content available on any mobile phone that can connect to the web.

Along with Adnams on The Pink 'Un site, regional department store Palmers in Great Yarmouth has signed up as an advertiser, giving money-off vouchers to users of the Archant site.

Tim Youngman, head of digital marketing at Archant, said: "Our mobile sites have already struck a chord with local businesses and brands seeking return on their advertising investment and we're already looking to roll out this mobile strategy with YOC across other titles in our portfolio."
