At the time of his death, he was a director and creative partner of the Brandpool agency, having previously run his own brand development agency.

Zdziebko’s agency career spanned 37 years, during which time he worked for a range of clients from Cadbury – he worked on the launch campaign for Cadbury’s Wispa – and the Milk Marketing Board to British Gas and Shell.

He was a senior art director at Ogilvy & Mather and a creative group head at the then Craton Lodge & Knight. He was elected a full member of D&AD in 2003.

John McWilliams, who launched Brandpool with Zdziebko, said: "His optimistic spirit shone through even during the final stages of his illness. I will miss him both as a good friend and a great talent.

"His courage and strength in enduring his long illness was, like his work, truly inspiring."

Zdziebko is survived by his wife, Liz, and his children, Leksie, Marika and Steffan.

His funeral will be held this Thursday at 11am at St Nicholas Church, Ringwould, Deal, Kent. Anybody who knew him is welcome to attend.

No flowers but donations to Pilgrims Hospices in East Kent. Donations can be made by the funeral director, Dilnot & Son, on 01304 380914.
