Associated to launch free London paper early '99

- Associated Newspapers, publisher of the London Evening Standard and the Daily Mail, has confirmed plans to launch a free daily morning newspaper for Londoners early next year.

Titled The London Metro the paper will be available to passengers on the London Underground and rail network.

Confirmation of the launch comes more than a month after the story was exclusively broken in Campaign magazine on November 6.

The paper is to be edited by Kim Chapman, former editor of the Reading Evening Post.
