In what the brand claims to be a world first, the video was shot live from the perspective of the driver. The camera was mounted where the driver's head would typically be located in order to create the effect.

The film includes interactive elements that enable the individual to view the car from a variety of different angles, as they scroll their mouse around the computer screen to view the cabin in any direction.

The film is to initially be unveiled on Audi’s mobile site and YouTube page, and it will be available to experience via VR headsets within Audi centres in the New Year.

VR agency Visualise filmed and edited the video, which was produced and directed by Will Currie.

Nick Ratcliffe, head of marketing at Audi UK said: "This new film brings online consumers closer to one of our cars than ever before. Wherever they are, they can experience the interior and technology of the all-new Audi A4."

Renault also recently released a VR driving experience, which is said to offer racing fans the chance to experience its Clio Cup event from the perspective of the driver.
