Aviva sees agencies for £4m digital task

LONDON - Aviva, the insurance group that owns Norwich Union and the RAC, has called a review of its £4 million UK digital advertising account.

The world's fifth-largest insurance company is contacting digital agencies this week ahead of a pitch, and it intends to hire a roster of shops.

Glue London, which handles digital advertising for the RAC, will repitch for the task. It is not known if GT, the incumbent on Norwich Union's digital advertising, will defend its portion of the business.

The incumbents secured the business in November 2006, following a four-way shoot-out against AKQA and LBi.

The pitch follows a review of the company's direct marketing roster, which resulted in the appointment of Craik Jones Watson Mitchell Voelkel as its lead DM agency, while WDMP, TDA, the incumbent, and Hicklin Slade & Partners were hired to work on the Norwich Union Direct and Norwich Union Life tasks.

Last week, Aviva appointed Amanda MacKenzie as its marketing director. She is due to join the company in March.
