Barclaycard teams with Lyle & Scott to create contactless payment jacket

Barclaycard has celebrated the increase of the contactless payment limit by creating what it claims to be the world's first contactless payment jacket.

Devised in collaboration with retailer Lyle & Scott, The Contactless Jacket features a Barclaycard bPay contactless chip in the right cuff. Wearers will be able to simply tap their sleeve to pay for goods up to £30.

The stunt follows a number of contactless payment trials from Barclaycard. The brand attached a card terminal to a donkey in Blackpool in August 2014, and prototyped contactless woollen gloves around the Christmas period.

The jacket is available to purchase online and from Lyle & Scott’s flagship store on London’s Carnaby Street for £150. It is available in Admiral Blue and True Black.

Today (3 September) will see Barclaycard partner with Bompas & Parr to host a 24-hour tasting menu event.
