BBC branding aims for commercial role with agency recruits

BBC Creative Services, the broadcaster's branding and promotion

department, has hired three staff from ad agencies as it moves towards

the commercial sector.



Victoria Zimmerman, previously an account director at Abbott Mead

Vickers BBDO, is joining Creative Services as an account director.

Catherine Adams, an account manager at McCann-Erickson, and Kate Jordan,

an account manager at FutureBrand, join as account managers.



The department is moving increasingly towards offering services in the

commercial sector. The new team will work at developing advertising and

promotions for the BBC and its joint venture channels UKTV, BBC World,

BBC Prime and BBC America.



Recent reports have suggested that Creative Services is putting in place

a team of people that would work along the lines of BBC Resources, as a

limited company providing services to the commercial sector.



However, the current focus of the department is to produce advertising

for BBC departments including Radio Five Live, BBC News and Radio 2.



Steve Kelynack, the head of creative at Creative Services, said: "A

strong account team is good news for creative services and the BBC. They

will play a crucial part in helping us to meet the increasing demands

from our BBC clients."
