BBC names Harvey as new editor of Top Gear magazine

LONDON - BBC Magazines has raided contract title Onelife to fill the editor's seat at Top Gear.

Michael Harvey, a former editor of Autocar and the current editor of the Land Rover contract magazine, joins Top Gear in June.

Top Gear's current editor Kevin Blick leaves in May having presided over a 4% decline in the magazine's sales over the past year. Its current circulation is 144,104.

The magazine is entering a key period, hoping to revive circulation on the back of a revival of 'Top Gear' on BBC television.

Adam Wadell, the publisher of 'Top Gear', said: "I'm really looking forward to working with Michael. With his extraordinary range of experience and creative flair, he is superbly placed to maintain the market leadership that we have enjoyed for our 10 years since launch."
