The corporation has been speaking to agencies about creating a social campaign for BBC One to ramp up its online presence over Christmas.
A BBC spokeswoman said: "We occasionally meet with agencies that we may be interested in working with in the future on specialist project-based work, however, we do not comment on individual projects."
The BBC uses Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R as its retained creative agency. Although when the agency won the hotly contested pitch for the account in February, the BBC said it would offer "specialist project-based opportunities to the wider advertising and creative community."
For example, it is using Bartle Bogle Hegarty for activity around Strictly Come Dancing, after the agency dazzled them in the pitch. During one meeting at the agency’s offices, BBC marketers were treated to an all-staff dancing performance to the programme’s theme tune.
Havas Media is the BBC’s media agency.
The Government kicked off a wholesale review of the BBC last month, which will include looking at its funding and scope of work.
The news comes days after BBC One was ranked as the third most social media-savvy of the five terrestrial broadcast networks.
The research, by social intelligence platform Brandwatch, said that BBC Two was the best, followed by ITV and then BBC One.
