BBC Online still number one

- BBC Online has been confirmed as the most visited website in the UK by the latest ABC//electronic figures released his week.

The ABC audit for October recorded in excess of 46 million page impressions for BBC Online.

The page impressions are broken down into four parts: general, www.bbc.co.uk, achieving 20,306,737 page impressions; news, www.bbc.co.uk/news, on 20,093957 page impressions; world service, www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice, 1,948,307 page impressions; and the beeb@theBBC, www.beeb.com, 4,430,864 page impressions.

Mark Frost, head of BBC Online, said: "These figures demonstrate the enormous demand for a public service BBC Online and confirm the approval we have won from both licence fee payers and the government to develop Online as a home for all UK internet users in the new millennium."
