US television network NBC has signed up for a 13 part series of BBC gameshow The Weakest Link, in which Anne Robinson will star.
The series will begin recording in March for transmission in April, and will be produced by a joint team from NBC and the BBC.
The deal follows the success of other British-format shows in the US, but this is the first time the UK host has been used.
BBC director of drama, entertainment and children's Alan Yentob said: "This prime-time commission by NBC represents a huge vote of confidence in the BBC series."
BBC Worldwide chief executive Rupert Gavin said: "The commitment from NBC is unprecedented. The new deal reflects our new strategy of investing in pilots from BBC Entertainment's format."
The UK production team is also working with broadcasters in France, Italy, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, Israel Portugal and India to produce local versions of the show. BBC Worldwide is in negotiation with broadcasters in Spain Norway, South Africa, Singapore, New Zealand, Ireland, Austria, Latin America, Poland, Finland, Greece, Cyprus Iceland, Sweden and Denmark for the format.
