Bartle Bogle Hegarty and Starcom Motive have picked up the
advertising and media accounts for DomainNames. com, the UK’s largest
registering service for websites.
DomainNames has earmarked pounds 8 million for a massive drive to
establish the Sunderland-based company as the registering service of
choice around the world.
’We aim to become the world’s foremost domain name registrar, hosting
service and application service provider within the next year,’ Paul
Callaghan, chairman of DomainNames, explained. ’We feel that BBH and
Starcom Motive understand what we want to achieve.’
DomainNames is an established company in the fast-moving world of
cyberspace registrations. It not only registers the websites of its
clients but will reserve space for them on its server and will ensure
that their sites are always operational and available to customers.
It faces stiff competition from rivals such as Net-benefit, Register.com
and Netnames but aims to use advertising to stand out more from the
crowd and become the generic for its industry.
Kevin Brown, the executive director of Starcom Motive, said: ’Media
exposure will play a crucial role in helping to establish DomainNames as
a strong brand in the current media environment where dotcom fatigue is
a real consumer danger. We’re excited about our plans.’
