- The RAC has appointed BBJ Media Services to its £5m planning and buying business following a competitive pitch.
The account was previously handled by The Media Business Group, which resigned the business suddenly in December because of client conflict with its Direct Line work. It is expected that Direct Line is planning to launch a breakdown service this spring and on that basis asked the Media Business to resign the RAC.
To win the business BBJ Media saw off BMP Optimum, Walker Media and Western International.
Walker Media had been tipped to win the business, following the controversial appointment of affiliate M&C Saatchi to handle the RAC's advertising business in March.
M&C Saatchi won the account after going head to head against Abbot Mead Vickers BBDO, Bartle Bogle Hegarty, BMP DDB and Young & Rubicam.
