BDDP GGT has created a TV and cinema campaign for the Big Issue to
develop the poster campaign that ran in the summer.
Live versions of the puppets that featured in the posters star in the
campaign, which consists of two 60-second and six ten-second spots. The
strange-looking models have abnormally large heads and are seen in a
variety of situations struggling to escape the routine of their
lives.
One of the two 60-second films depicts a boy carrying a toy parachutist
to the top of a tall building before dropping it. He then runs back down
to collect it before repeating the procedure. Each ad carries a
different endline suggesting activities such as ’17:00 Bars Fringe
Theatre’ and the same strapline ’The Big Issue - live in the city’.
The campaign was written by Jim Thornton and art directed by Christine
Jones. The puppets were created by the French photographer and
puppet-maker, Jean-Pierre Khazem, who also directed the ads through All
Films.
Media for the campaign, which is being donated, is being negotiated by
Media Solutions.
