Bendelack, who started his directing career on the 80s satirical TV show Spitting Image, is the first appointment by Large since its creation last month by the merger of Stark Films and Spectre.
He has specialised in comedy, directing some of the UK's leading programmes, including The Royle Family and The League of Gentlemen.
His commercials credits include Lilt ads for Mother and HHCL/Red Cell's "it's all me, me, me" ads for Pot Noddle. He was also responsible for directing the Nike/Footlocker campaign "light box" for Wieden & Kennedy.
Bertie Miller, the co-managing director of Large, said he had wanted to work with Bendelack for three years.
"He has been responsible for two of the best comedy series of the past decade ... and I'm really looking forward to working with him," he said.
Jason Harrington, the director of spots such as Dunlop's "unexpected 2", also joins Large from Believe Media UK.
