Blackden takes Universal new-media post

Damian Blackden, the joint chief executive of Universal McCann London, is moving to a new role at the media network as it increases its emphasis on digital.

The move means that Andy Jones, Blackden's fellow joint chief executive at Universal London, will take sole charge of the London business.

Blackden will take the title of executive vice-president, director of strategic marketing technologies, across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Blackden's move is the result of changes instigated by Nick Brien, the worldwide chief executive of Universal, who wants to develop the network's digital resources as part of its core offering. Blackden will report to Graham Duff, Universal's president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Blackden, 39, ran Zenith Interactive Solutions, Zenith Media's interactive arm, before joining Universal in 2000 to create Universal McCann Interactive across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
