Blac's poster stunt causes stampede at Elephant & Castle

A 48-sheet poster with £1,000-worth of £5 notes stuck to it caused a mini-stampede in London's Elephant & Castle yesterday, as members of the public were invited to peel the notes off the poster and keep them.

Once all the notes had been removed the poster read: "You want to make a real investment? Invest in Elephant & Castle."

The stunt was created by Blac, a Covent Garden-based advertising agency, on behalf of its client Oakmayne Properties, which is heading a regeneration of the London district and trying to encourage businesses and local residents to invest in the Walworth area.

Neil Campbell, a director of Blac, said: "The residents really bought into it and the operation was a great success, even if our ladder was stolen in the process."
