Duncan Jones, a commercials director, is the son of David Bowie, and was formerly known as Zowie Bowie. He joins BMB from the production company Traffik - previously Frank Films - where he has worked as a commercials director for the past two years.
He formed a friendship with the BMB founder Trevor Beattie in 2004, when they worked on the three-minute McCain Oven Chips 25th anniversary spot "a year to remember", starring the ex-Blue Peter presenter Valerie Singleton.
He directed the film and co-wrote it with Beattie.
At BMB, he will have a "roving creative role", with a remit including scriptwriting, the development of product-placement projects and film directing. He will work across the agency's recent new-business wins, including HP Sauce and the Discovery Channel.
Beattie said: "Duncan's a unique talent. He's intelligent, enthusiastic and untainted by advertising cynicism - he hasn't been steeped in the hackneyed tradition of TV ad writing."
