Jubilee 2000, a coalition of aid charities who are trying to get
unpayable third world debt cancelled by the millennium, has appointed
BMP DDB to generate support with a national press campaign which breaks
today in the Guardian.
The first ad features two coupons, located at the top and bottom of an
otherwise blank page. Supporters of Jubilee 2000 are asked to tick the
box on the first coupon, which reads, ’Yes, let’s cancel third world
debt and give the world’s poorest countries a glimmer of hope’, and to
return the coupon to the Jubilee 2000 coalition.
On behalf of the ’world powers,’ the second coupon states: ’No, let’s
make the lazy Ethiopian spongers pay back the pounds 7 billion they owe
us. It’s our money. We want it back.’
The ad was created by David Dye and Sean Doyle.
