- BMP DDB has walked off with the top honours at the 22nd annual One Show in New York, beating leading US agencies to the Best of Show award for Volkswagen's D&AD Award-winning "affordability" campaign.
The triumph marks the first time an agency from outside the US has walked off with the top prize at America's most prestigious awards show.
BMP had the second largest haul of awards overall, taking home seven in total, including three golds for Volkswagen, Campaign's 1997 advertiser of the year. The agency's Volkswagen work also scooped the first gold award in the new multi-media campaign category.
Goodby Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco, took the largest haul of ten awards. These included one gold and two silvers for its work for Nike -- during the first year the agency has handled the account -- one silver and three bronzes for Anheuser-Busch, a gold and a silver for its "Got Milk?" campaign for the California Milk Processors Board and one silver for its former client, Porsche.
Created in 1977, the One Show organised by the US equivalent of D&AD, the One Club for Art and Copy received over 15,000 entries from 51 countries.
The One Show winners are reviewed in next week's Campaign.
