BMP DDB is formally applying its planning credentials to the areas

of new media, direct marketing and media buying with the appointment of

Cathy Reid as the agency’s first communications planning director.

Reid has been promoted from the position of board account planner, and

will work closely with Stuart Archibald, the direct marketing director;

Ross Sleight, the strategy director of BMP interaction; and Mark Palmer,

the communication strategy director at the media dependant, BMP

Optimum.

Chris Powell, the chief executive of BMP, said: ’The management changes

reinforce our commitment to these areas. We have designed a structure to

ensure that the agency’s strengths are brought together and expanded to

encompass the whole spectrum of marketing communications.’

Nigel Jones, the head of account planning, will relinquish some

responsibilities to focus on directing the agency’s broader client

communication strategies.

As a result, Olivia Johnson, a board account planner who runs the

Spillers and Barclaycard business, has been promoted to deputy head of

account planning and will take on the day-to-day running of the

department.

Jones, who has been head of account planning for six years, said: ’In

five years’ time all BMP planners will be working on communications

planning.’
