- BOL, Bertelsmann's recently-launched online bookstore, is to co-sponsor the world's largest literary festival, held at Hay-on-Wye in the UK.
BOL has signed a three-year deal to promote the Hay-on-Wye Festival, both online with a dedicated web area on the BOL site, which can be found at www.uk.bol.com, and off-line at the festival itself.
Through the BOL web site, customers and festival attendees will be able to chat online with authors as well as purchase tickets to the event through a link to the festival website.
More than 45,000 readers and writers visit Hay, which is a small market town in Wales famed for 34 bookshops, for 10 days of celebrations with 180 scheduled programmes of interviews, lectures, cabaret, exhibitions, recitals and classes.
Georges Aoun, managing director for BOL in the UK, adds: "The Hay-on-Wye Festival forms a vital part of developing the BOL service we offer to customers and we feel confident that we will both develop a new and unique way to develop the conference to take it to book lovers across the world."
