Blu eCigs appointed flavour architects Bompas & Parr last month to create a multi-sensory chandelier that emits mist, emulating the characteristics of e-cigarette vapour, for the one-day showcase.
The chandelier also emits a blueberry-scented vapour from a glowing blue light, which is inspired by the distinctive blue light that shines from Blu electronic cigarettes.
The installation celebrates the word 'vape’, which was named Oxford Dictionaries’ ‘word of the year’.
The artwork used 15 litres of a non-nicotine version of Blu eCigs 'Blu'-berry flavoured e-liquid combined with water to create a ‘blu mist’ of vapour that cascades from the installation to create an immersive experience.
Sam Bompas said: "The idea of taking inspiration from Blu eCigs and turning it into an engaging and immersive installation was hugely exciting for us.
"E-cigarettes are a new technology that asks us to reassess the norm and we wanted to reflect this by taking a seemingly ordinary object, a light, and making something that almost feels alive. The Blu experience is designed to create a collective, immersive experience that we predict will become a real collector’s piece."
The showcase event was open for one day yesterday to visitors over the age of 18.
