The Newspaper Society has appointed Gerry Boniface, former managing director of Fusion Radio Sales, to the position of advertising affairs executive.

Boniface joined Fusion at its launch two years ago but quit in April last year to launch his own sales management training company for the media industry.

Boniface joins the Newspaper Society's newly created advertising affairs unit, an initiative intending to up the ante in the drive to increase national advertising revenue in the regional press.

Marketing director of the Newspaper Society David Hoath said: "Gerry is a highly respected and well-known figure in media circles and brings with him an extensive network of agency and client contacts.

"I am delighted he will be sharing his experience with us and feel sure he will bolster our very important work in the presentations area."

The Society has also taken on a second market analyst, appointing Verity Amos who was previously assistant planner/buyer at Media Planing Group.
