Russell Boyman, a managing partner of Media Planning, is leaving
the company to take a career break. The agency has promoted his deputy,
Andrew Canter, as his successor.
Boyman, who is planning to travel around the world for six months, has
headed Media Planning’s broadcast operation for more than a decade and
has worked in media for 25 years, mostly in the TV buying arena.
Having worked at GGT and Index Advertising in the 80s, Boyman joined
Media Planning back in 1990, when the agency was called Media-star. His
broadcast responsibilities were significantly expanded in 1996 when the
agency relaunched and took on TV buying for Young & Rubicam and WCRS
Canter joined Media Planning along with the rest of the Y&R TV
department in 1996 and took over as broadcast director reporting to
Boyman. Canter has handled the agency’s TV negotiations for the past two
years and now takes full control of the department in September.
Marc Mendoza, the managing director of Media Planning, said the agency
had been aware of Boyman’s plans for some time and had been working to
manage a smooth transition.
He added: ’Andrew has been working extremely closely with Russell now
for four years and has been taking on more and more of Russell’s role
over that period. We wish Russell well and look forward to the continued
development of our TV product under Andrew.’
