Walker Media, Manning Gottlieb Media and MSc - the joint venture between New PHD and Partners BDDH - are on the shortlist to fight it out for the business.

Walker Media has been handling the media on a caretaker basis since the building society hired M&C Saatchi to do its creative work in May this year.

The then incumbent, Leo Burnett, resigned the full-service account in February when it discovered its hold on the brief was reduced.

Ruth Blakemore, Bradford and Bingley's commercial director, will see presentations from the three media shops within the next fortnight.

The MSc pitch will be led by its managing director, Louise Jones, who joined from Michaelides and Bednash earlier this year. M&B handled Cable and Wireless's media strategy while Blakemore was marketing director there.

Blakemore joined the building society last Christmas. Shortly after her arrival she made a handful of senior marketing appointments and has been working on the company's marketing arrangement stage by stage. Major advertising work is expected early next year. The campaign should include the relaunching of the main Bradford and Bingley brand, a marketing boost for Mortgage Express and the rebranding of the Black Horse estate agency chain.
