Reed Business Information has appointed ad and media agency CDP and
its online counterpart Mvi to help spearhead the launch of its
recruitment website Totaljobs.com. The site features more than 12,000
jobs covering a range of sectors. A multi-million ad campaign will start
in the spring.
The Electronic Telegraph has relaunched its student website -
Juiced.co.uk - to offer a ’cleaner, crisper and more sophisticated
site’. With entertainment coverage drawn from the ET and Emap’s Heat
magazine, the site will also feature recruitment and careers
information. Juiced.co.uk was originally launched two years ago as the
online spin-off from The Daily Telegraph’s student supplement.
The Media Trust, a charity set up by the media industry five years ago
to help voluntary organisations, is to launch a free digital channel on
1 May. The Community Channel will be broadcast on all three digital
systems - terrestrial, satellite and cable - and will be aimed at people
involved in community and voluntary activity.
Children’s ITV has launched an internet site at www.citv.co.uk. Along
with pages for each programme, the site features a variety of games,
jokes, competitions and an e-mail facility.
The Independent has launched a four-part guide to getting online,
sponsored by internet service provider Freeserve. The first two issues
of This is the Internet appeared on Saturday and Sunday. The final two
issues will appear next weekend. As well as promoting Freeserve, the
first issue also contained ads for products linked to the ISP, such as
The Net magazine and the new Marbles credit card. The paper says 55 per
cent of its readers own a computer and 50 per cent have used the
internet in the past 12 months.
Express Newspapers’ head of PR, Elaine Robertson, has added marketing to
her remit and becomes general manager of marketing. Express marketing
manager, Danny Rosen, is leaving and Daily Star marketing manager,
Charlie Allen, has been made redundant. Matt Cotton becomes marketing
manager for both titles.
DMG Exhibition Group, one of the world’s largest exhibition and trade
show organisers, has acquired Montreal-based Groupe Promexpo, Quebec’s
biggest show producer. DMG has also bought Riddell Exhibition
Promotions, Australia’s second-largest show organiser.
Haymarket Publishing has acquired a 50 per cent share of West Coast
publishing, the publishers of SC Magazine. The magazine has three
editions, a North American edition, an Asia Pacific edition published in
Singapore, and a rest of the world edition published in Neath, South
Wales. SC Magazine has a combined circulation of 80,000.
The Radio Authority has announced the award of several local radio
licences. Capital Radio Digital has scooped the licence for Cardiff,
Newport and surrounding areas. The licence covers an area with an adult
population of 800,000. Kick FM has won the licence for Newbury and the
surrounding area, and Bridge FM has been awarded the licence for
Bridgend. Lantern Radio has retained its eight-year licence for the
North Devon area.
