Brilliant pitch wins Jet2 task

Jet2: Cut-price flights on Boeing 737-700s from Yorkshire to Europe

Brilliant Media has picked up the media business for the launch of new entrant into the low-cost airline market, Jet2.

The Leeds-based agency will handle media buying and planning for the multi-million pound launch of the business, which will operate from Leeds Bradford airport from February 2003.

The first dedicated budget airline operating from the
Yorkshire airport, it will fly to destinations in France, Spain, Majorca, Holland and Germany.

Brilliant Media chairman Steve Lane said: "We're delighted to have won this account as Jet2 will be very important to the North-East of England. The pitch process was highly competitive and, once again, we've proven our ability to compete at the highest levels."

The agency recently set up a dedicated research division, which, it claims, helped it bag the account.

"The opportunity to launch a new brand in a dynamic market sector is very exciting and we are looking forward to working on the business. I believe the ability to provide research solutions was the deciding factor," said Lane.

Jet2 commercial director Steve Lee said: "We were very impressed with the blend of strategic thinking and purchasing power that Brilliant had to offer, together with their understanding of launching a low-cost business model."

A campaign will kick-off in the next few weeks and will include television coverage within a multi-media package.

Jet2 is owned by the Dart
Aviation Group, which operates 18 aircraft and provides charters from Edinburgh and Stansted to Europe.
