This is Britain (TIB) is urgently seeking 20 sales staff to sell
its nationwide network of local websites which goes live later this
week.
TIB is an online venture involving Newsquest Media Group, Northcliffe
Newspaper Group, Trinity Mirror, Guardian Media Group and Associated New
Media. It has created more than 60 community sites covering every region
of the UK.
Beeb.com’s commercial manager Jonathan Lines is the first senior sales
person to join TIB as publisher and sales director.
Lines, who arrives in November, is looking for 14 sales people at all
levels but urgently needs two sales managers. His team will sell
advertising across the community websites from This is South Devon to
This is North Scotland.
His team will also sell the network’s online localised classified sales
service Ad Hunter, and the venture’s internet business directory Quartet
Database Developments, as part of general advertising packages.
The remaining six sales people will sell the three classified Ad Hunter
sites - which cover recruitment, property and cars - as well as the
directory. Auto and property sellers will report to section publisher
Gifford Sutherland. A recruitment publisher is being sought.
Lines, who is taking Janet Davies, account manager at Beeb.com, with him
to TIB as e-commerce manager, said: ’Online selling experience is not
necessary but I am looking for people with agency experience.’
TIB’s chief executive Jonathan Turpin said: ’TIB’s benefit is that it’s
interrelated. If users want to buy a house, they can use Ad Hunter
Property but also find out about the area through the local This
is ... site.’
TIB aims to achieve 84 per cent coverage of the UK by the end of the
year.
