Regional press internet venture This is Britain plans to plough
pounds 30 million over the next three years into its classified consumer
web sites.
The consortium of four publishing groups, which represents 80 per cent
of the UK’s regional newspapers, unveiled the three sites - Fish4cars,
Fish4jobs and Fish4homes - last week.
Aside from the pounds 30 million of shareholders’ money which has been
set aside, the publishers involved will contribute a further pounds 30
million worth of advertising in their own titles as part of a
large-scale press advertising drive.
Fish4cars will be the country’s largest database of used cars, carrying
up to 200,000 listings when This is Britain launches at the end of this
month. Fish4homes will contain over 30,000 properties, a figure that is
expected to grow to more than 50,000 by Christmas. Fish4jobs will
feature an estimated 30,000 jobs from across the country.
TIB is recruiting up to 20 sales staff to sell across the sites, which
replace its existing online classified system, Adhunter (Campaign Media
Business 11 October).
The Manchester office of CIA Media Solutions is handling the pounds 10
million launch, which will focus on the regional press.
