British Comedy Awards aims for international profile

LONDON - The company behind the British Comedy Awards says its proposed tie-up with Trevor Beattie could help launch the event on an international stage.

Speaking to Campaign, Paul Pascoe, the director of Unique Communications, confirmed his company is in talks with the advertising guru.

He said that other media partners would be sought, to transform the brand to become more than just an awards ceremony.

He said: "The opportunity to develop the brand on an international stage is not hard to see.

"It is known as the comedy Oscars in the UK, but awareness abroad does not currently match the reputation of British comedians."

It is believed that ideas being considered include adapting the event to include more international categories, and providing British comedy video content across different platforms to download and view.
