Tim Broadbent, the planning director of Young & Rubicam at the time
of its merger with Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe in August, will leave
the agency at the end of the week.
Y&R offered Broadbent the New York-based post of director of strategy
for the Y&R network, but he declined the position because of his
commitments to the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising in

Y&R poached Broadbent from WCRS, where he was a board planning director,
in 1994. Broadbent said: ’I feel the job here has been done. A few years
ago, Y&R looked like it was dying on its feet and would probably drop
out of the top 20, but by the time of the merger it was growing at 40
per cent and now it is in the top ten.’
At WCRS, Broadbent worked on accounts such as the Prudential and
