- BSkyB is expected to buy a 9.9 per cent stake in English Premier League football club Leeds United this week, and is also understood to be pursuing a similar stake in Chelsea.
The purchases will follow that of the Granada Media Group, which last month took a 9.9 per cent stake in Liverpool FC.
Under rules agreed by the Football Association, if media owners seek to take multiple stakes investments will be limited to 10 per cent.
BSkyB already has an 11.6 per cent stake in Manchester United, which under the FA rules it would have to reduce.
According to reports in the Guardian today a 9.9 per cent stake in Leeds is likely to cost around £7.5 million while a stake in Chelsea is likely to cost closer to £15 million.
