BSkyB’s interactive television service Open has finalised a deal
with Flextech Television to create five home shopping channels to launch
early next year.
Flextech Interactive, the ecommerce division of Flextech, will initially
launch two shopping services scheduled to be up and running on Open from
Scene One will be based on Flextech’s listings and reviews websites,
which will sell CDs, books, videos and tickets.
UKTV will offer pay-TV viewers the BBC’s books and merchandise from
series such as Walking with Dinosaurs and Teletubbies.
The agreement also includes an option for two other shopping zones as
well as an option for a Discovery store.
The two other confirmed sites are Screen Shop, which will sell domestic
products, and TV Travel Shop, which will offer discount holidays.
Ashley Highfield, general manager of Flextech Interactive, said:
’Flextech will give all its shops a consistent look and feel within Open
so they are easy to use with the TV remote control.’

technology to widen choice in a consumer market.’
