United Distillers & Vintners has started a review of its UK

Gordon’s Gin business, which has been handled by Leo Burnett for 12

years.

Burnett will repitch for the brand alongside Bartle Bogle Hegarty, which

handles UDV’s Johnnie Walker brand. Both agencies were briefed this

week.

It is not clear at this stage whether the review will extend to

non-roster agencies.

Simon Soothill, marketing manager at UDV for the brand, confirmed the

review but declined to comment further. ’We are in the early stages of

reviewing the UK advertising strategy. This does not impact on any

Gordon’s business outside the UK,’ he said.

Last year the drinks giant cut Lowe & Partners Worldwide from its

roster, leaving Burnett and J. Walter Thomson as its two global agency

partners.

J. Walter Thompson picked up dollars 200 million (pounds 127 million) of

UDV advertising business including Smirnoff, Baileys , Malibu and

Sheridan’s.
