Two major international wins in the past two weeks have put Foote Cone
Belding back into contention at the top end of the Business Performance
League.
First, the Andrex puppy bade farewell to J. Walter Thompson; then
Tambrands moved its entire global account out of BBDO and into the FCB
network. The loss was a blow to Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, which handled
the pounds 3.9 million account in the UK, resulting in a squeezing of
the gap between AMV in second and FCB in fifth to under pounds 10
million.
The Tambrands departure was partially addressed by confirmation that the
Evening Standard, which the AMV group won in the summer, is to channel
its advertising through the main agency. We’ve credited AMV with the
pounds 1.6 million Register-MEAL figure and await confirmation from the
client of any planned increase.
Meanwhile, Cowan Kemsley Taylor replaced Simons Palmer Clemmow Johnson
in the top ten after its Pontin’s coup last week.
