In the end, there was nothing else for it. Lloyds-TSB has pounds 16

million of billings which it divided between two agencies earlier this

month.

Quite how it will apportion that money is unknown, and the people at

Lloyds-TSB are not about to tell us. So we have split it 50/50 between

DMB&B and Saatchi & Saatchi. This pushes Saatchis back into the top ten

and DMB&B back into the top 30 after lengthy absences for both

agencies.

There will be even more competition in the top ten in a couple of weeks

when the merger of GGT and BST-BDDP, which was announced last week, goes

through. On current figures, the new agency, BDDP GGT, will be eighth

with a net gain of pounds 18.5 million.

However, BDDP GGT will have to win something enormous if it is to get

close to Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper. Euro extended its lead at the top by

another pounds 1 million this week, after we received client

confirmation of the budget for United Distillers’ Hackler Poitin.

With just a couple of months to go, the agency is beginning to look

unassailable.

Towards the bottom of the table, Mother makes a reappearance at 27

following its Kickers win, and just bubbling under at 31 is the Union

with pounds 5.1 million.
