Wowhaus is re-launching itself as Wow Films and has signed two new
directors - Guy Grundy, a location photographer who has just shot a test
commercial for Sony Playstation through TBWA GGT Simons Palmer, and Ian
Sciacaluga, a documentary-maker who has recently finished a project for
Anglia TV, called Millenium Kids.
Sam Miller, the lead director of the hit BBC2 series, This Life, has
left James Garrett Productions to join the Directory. Miller signed up
with Garretts in May 1997 but his only commercial to date, Standard
Life’s ’talking baby’ for the Leith Agency, was produced by the
Directory’s Scottish sister company, MTP.
Union Commercials has signed up Gareth Roberts from BFCS. His
commercials reel includes work for the Times and Sunday Times, Pioneer,
Foster’s and the Welsh Tourist Board. Mike Barker, a documentary and
features director, will also join Union Commercials from Rose Hackney
Barber.
BFCS has also lost Keith Rogerson, who has just shot a new Birds Custard
spot for Ogilvy & Mather. Rogerson joins TTO2 along with Patrick
Harkins, who is new to commercials but has worked extensively with Mike
Leigh.
Jamie Lane, who directed a Cherry Coke cinema ad through Publicis
featuring the new Chanel girl, Erin O’Connor, has left Partizan to join
Lambie-Nairn Directors. Lane said: ’I am lucky to have learnt my trade
watching Michel Gondry and David Mold.’
Will van der Vlugt Films has taken on two new Belgian directors:
Jean-Marc Vervoort, who was on the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors
Showcase last year, and Anne-Marie Vandeputte, who has done work for
McDonald’s, Lucky Strike and Winfield. Karen Cappetta, a director’s
representative, has also joined the company. She will concentrate on the
two newcomers and Keith English.
The Producers has taken on two comedy directors, Jan Wentz and Hans P.
Moland, and two visual directors, Henning Winklemann and Kim Geldenhuys.
