The commercials production house, Harkness Sayers, has lifted the
curtain on a new radio production company, Boom! Sound Productions.
Boom! offers a complete radio advertising service from script to
broadcast. It employs five people and is based at Harkness’s London
offices in Gerrard Street.
The new company is a joint venture between Hugh Harkness and Dan Sayers,
founders of Harkness Sayers, and Dan’s writer/radio producer brother,
Jon Sayers. The costs of setting up the company have been shared with
Harkness Sayers.
Jon Sayers said Boom! was committed to offering a branding and results-
oriented service, aiming to rival established radio production companies
such as Mandy Wheeler Sound Productions and Commercial Breaks.
‘It is common knowledge that commercial radio is growing fast,’ Sayers
said, ‘and I think it’s all down to Classic FM. Clients have realised
they can use the cost-effective medium of radio to target their markets
precisely. I want to offer something different.
‘With my experience as a copywriter above and below the line for eight
years and writing and producing ads, I’m particularly interested in
providing radio that pulls measurable results,’ he said.
Dan Sayers added: ‘Jon suggested moving into radio and Hugh and I felt
it was a great idea. Many of the top-20 agency TV departments we deal
with are overloaded with radio work that they don’t always have the
resources or the inclination to handle themselves.’
Radio work already on the Boom! reel includes: Haagen-Dazs, NatWest, the
Automobile Association and UCI Cinemas.
