The winners of the Aerial Awards’ three new craft categories have
been announced ahead of this year’s ceremony, which takes place at BAFTA
on 22 October.
Best direction went to Michael Burke, John Anderson and Neil Harrington
for the Holsten Pils ’lottery’ spot by TBWA GGT Simons Palmer. Best
sound was won by Dave Stewart for his work on a British Airways
commercial for M&C Saatchi called ’sitar and piano’ and best casting
went to Eardrum for Rover’s ’rock band’ ad through Ammirati Puris
Lintas.
Adrian Reith, the managing director of Commercial Breaks, was the
chairman of the craft jury. He said: ’Radio benefits from love and
attention. It is good to shine a spotlight on casting, directing and
sound, although obviously the writing has to be good too.’
