Outsider has attracted a new batch of directing talent with the
arrival of Pat Holden from Stark Films and Dom & Nic from Jane Fuller
Associates.
Holden, a former advertising agency creative, joined Stark Films from
Blink with his producer, Stephen Gash, a year ago. Gash will remain at
Stark Films. Holden left Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe, where he was a
copywriter, in August 1996 and appeared in the 1997 Saatchi & Saatchi
new directors showcase.
Since moving to Stark, Holden’s work has included a Fiat spot for DMB&B
and two promotional films for the Independent Television Commission
through Duckworth Finn Grubb Waters. Martha Greene, the managing
director of Stark, said: ’Pat did very well with us and I see no reason
why he won’t do well in the future.’
Robert Campbell, the former Spots producer who set up Outsider last year
with Toby Courlander (previously at Partizan Midi Minuit), said:
’Outsider is a really good place to be. It is a laugh - it’s not about
glamour and being Soho’s number one.’
Dom & Nic (Dominic Hawley and Nick Goffey) are best known for their pop
promos, which include work for bands such as the Chemical Brothers,
Oasis and Supergrass. They have recently made two Nike commercials for
the US market - ’restaurant’ and ’rehab’ - featuring two of the
country’s top female athletes.
The duo, who met at school in Oxford, got their first break directing a
video for Nick’s brother’s band - Supergrass - which appeared on the
Chart Show. Their pop promo company, the Oil Factory, did a tie-up with
Jane Fuller earlier in the year.
