CAMPAIGN DIARY: 49 staffers agree to take a running jump. What’s new, we ask?

Last weekend, some 49 agency people hurtled through the sky as part of an inter-agency skydive - organised by J. Walter Thompson to benefit the National Deaf Children’s Society.

JWT threw down the gauntlet to other agencies to get them to join in the

jump. Participants leapt from 13,000 feet above Salisbury Plain and then

freefell towards the ground - at speeds of up to 120 mph - before

opening their parachutes.

At the end of the action-packed day, the teams had raised nearly pounds

10,000 for the charity.

There was action - and prizes. Champagne and Alton Towers tickets

(glamour all the way) went to the team with the best motto -

McCann-Erickson with: ’One small step for man. One giant leap for

McCann-kind.’

The 11 agencies taking part were: Ammirati Puris Lintas, Bartle Bogle

Hegarty, Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper, GGT, Grey, JWT, Leo Burnett, Ogilvy &

Mather, TBWA Simons Palmer, TSMS Central House and McCanns.

Of all the top bods, only Ben Langdon of McCanns had an excuse for not

participating. Apparently he’s jumped too many times before
