CAMPAIGN DIARY: Bishop puts best foot forward for Brighton

If this tale is anything to go by, it seems adland’s love affair with Chelsea Football Club may be on the wane.

with Chelsea Football Club may be on the wane.

Clive Bishop, Leo Burnett’s financial controller, has supported Brighton

& Hove Albion Football Club ever since he left his home town of Brighton

years ago. He was one of the many fans disappointed when the club

temporarily relocated to Gillingham two years ago while its stadium was

refurbished.

The club has recently returned to its spanking new ground and to mark

the occasion - and more importantly to raise money for fitness equipment

for the players - Bishop decided to complete a 75-mile sponsored walk

from Gillingham to Brighton.

Coincidentally, the club is run by an ex-advertising man, Dick Knight of

Holmes Knight Ritchie and, more recently, Knight Leach Delaney. It also

boasts the AAR’s Martin Jones as a loyal fan and the former TBWA

financial chief, Ian Andrews, is the club’s financial controller.

Bishop took a week to complete his trek and raised more than pounds 500.

The new ground is obviously proving to be something of a lucky charm -

Brighton & Hove Albion thrashed Mansfield Town 6-0 at the weekend.
