Long known in London as the ’Cock of the North’ (come on, it’s
obvious), Tony Dalton - a Newcastle fan currently resident in New York -
may soon have a new nickname following an interview in Ad Age with Bob
Seelert, chief executive of Saatchi & Saatchi.
Describing Dalton’s role in three Saatchis initiatives, Seelert said:
’Tony has long been the centrepiece in all these things.’ So far, so
easy to understand. Seelert then added: ’He’s the rod that stirs the
drink in all three initiatives.’
According to Campaign’s language experts (the subs’ desk), a
drink-stirring rod is either a teaspoon or a swizzle-stick. We know
where we’re putting our money.
