TBWA GGT Simons Palmer’s team chose some unusual accommodation for
their stay in Kinsale - namely a pig farm. While we can’t confirm that
it was a genuine pig farm, a lot of TBWA’s normally bacon-friendly
creatives were none too impressed with the daily pig-medley served by
their bed & breakfast.
The torture of having to eat pig in one form or another got too much for
one creative. At the awards dinner, he said he would kill someone if the
meal contained any trace of bacon. As the main course of boiled ham was
brought out, his colleagues fell into fits of laughter.
While his reaction to the dessert - a slice of spam masquerading as a
raspberry torte - was priceless.
Meanwhile, tension was mounting between TBWA’s Trevor Beattie and
Charles Inge. Despite being slightly perturbed at the volume of awards
scooped by Lowes, Beattie managed to congratulate Inge in the bar later.
Inge replied that it didn’t do him any good - he has minus-six points in
Campaign’s Fantasy Agency League compared with Beattie’s 140. Beattie,
entrepreneurial as ever, suggested Inge could get points for cash and a
bidding war ensued.
That’s against the rules guys.
