Campaign Diary: M&C reveals budding artist in its reception

While many people in adland seem to think top artwork only emerges from top creative departments, sometimes artistic talent can actually be sitting right under their nose.

While many people in adland seem to think top artwork only emerges

sitting right under their nose.

Cyndy Snowdon, until ten months ago M&C Saatchi’s long-standing head of

reception, has emerged as the latest to pursue her dream career as an

artist.

A major in fine art at Cornell University in America, she had mulled

over ideas and experimented with the paint tools on her computer even

when she worked diligently as head honcho in M&C’s reception.

In a huge leap of faith, she left with only three commissions lined

up.

But 25 pieces later, she’s feeling satisfyingly purged. ’I sat down and

got it all out of my system,’ she confided. ’After all, it’s been there

a while.’

Word of her exhibition has even filtered up to the big boys. Maurice

Saatchi, known more for his bottomless wallet than his love of art (he

leaves that to Charles), has even cast an astute eye over her

collection.

A congratulatory note said: ’The paintings look great, and I hope it’s a

sell-out.’

Snowdon’s exhibition is on 1 February, 6-9pm at 55 the Gallery,

Shepherds Market, London W1.
