The folding of Mellors Reay into Grey is clearly taking its toll on

all those involved, not least the new creative director, Tim

Mellors.



At a recent all-staff meeting, Mellors was enthusing about the

creativity he thought Grey was hiding, and how he wanted to unleash the

enthusiasm of the staff.



Strong words, well delivered, but none more so than when he described

the agency as a ’sleeping giant’. To illustrate his point, Mellors got

on his knees, curled into a ball and urged his colleagues to ’waken the

sleeping giant’.



After several minutes of shouting ’wake up, Grey’, and having reached

the level of audience participation he wanted, the ’sleeping giant’

unfurled and ended his seminar. It may sound apocryphal but we can

assure you it’s not.
