Campaign Diary: soporific programmatic, while Sorrell and Schama are firestarters

The ID Comms chief Tom Denford sends man to sleep and Sir Martin Sorrell recalls university days with pal Simon Schama.

Programmatic: sleep inducing
Programmatic: sleep inducing

Marketing professor Mark Ritson made a guest appearance on ID Comms' weekly YouTube video, Media Snack, in an hour-long interview that was more like a marathon than a snack. And the highlights? Ritson brought along his dad to the interview and the older Ritson promptly fell asleep off-camera while Tom Denford, the chief strategy officer of ID Comms, quizzed the marketing prof about programmatic. Denford also revealed he has taken Ritson's mini-MBA in marketing but only got a "B" grade. Diary's verdict: Must try harder, if only to keep Ritson Senior awake!

Hearty congratulations to Sir Martin Sorrell who has just been made an honorary fellow at his alma mater Christ’s College. Cambridge. Sorrell, who left with a lower second-class degree (like all the best people) also revealed in an interview with the college magazine that he and his fellow student and friend Simon Schama were almost responsible for burning the college down. The pair attempted to remain kosher by cooking their own food in the dorms but Schama, who unlike Sorrell left with a Starred First, accidentally left a saucepan on the ring after making his favourite risotto, nearly causing a conflagration.
