As Campaign knows, finding a decent band for awards nights and
parties is a difficult task, so we’ve always advised you should see
what’s ’happening’ on the street.
Carlton Television’s chief executive, Martin Bowley, took our advice to
heart it seems.
While organising entertainment for his station’s charity lunch, which
will be held next week, Bowley took a stroll through London’s Leicester
Square and happened upon a funky, young busking duo.
After listening for a few moments, Bowley approached the pair and asked
them if they would play at the lunch.
The pair, Richard Rhoden and Steve Wellington, duly agreed and will be
joining the rest of the live bands, which have been rounded up by
Carlton’s weekly music show, Videotech.
The lunch (in aid of the Orpheus Trust which supports disabled
youngsters interested in music and drama) takes place on Wednesday 2
December, and we’ll let you know how Rhoden and Wellington get on.
