CAMPAIGN DIARY: There’s vroom for all kinds of customer at the Abbey, say bikers

Those nice people at Abbey National may have incurred the wrath of many a customer who’s had a cheque bounced or tip-toed over their overdraft limit, but at least there is one group of people who like the building society.

Those nice people at Abbey National may have incurred the wrath of

many a customer who’s had a cheque bounced or tip-toed over their

overdraft limit, but at least there is one group of people who like the

building society.

Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper’s (shouldn’t that be Wnek-Savage Gosper? - Ed)

latest campaign for the building society shows a timid rambler stumbling

across a scary group of Hell’s Angels as he wanders into a quiet country

pub. He then proceeds to the bar, where three rough-looking bikers

pounce on him and extol the benefits of banking with Abbey.

Hell’s Angels have suffered from bad PR in the past, so the Plymouth

Motorbikers Association was so chuffed at their portrayal as warm human

beings that it has moved its membership account to the Abbey and posed

for a nice snapshot outside. Aahh.
